Some of these tools include:
1. Carpenter’s Pencil: The carpenter’s pencil has two essential characteristics: its flat or octagonal shape which prevents it from rolling over even while placed on a steep sloping roof and its wide, flat lead.
2. Carpenter Pincers: The pincers are first-class levers that are used to concentrate force to either a point or to an edge perpendicular to the length of the tool.
3. Marking Gauges: This consists of a beam, headstock, and a scribing or marking implement, usually a pen, knife, pin or wheel. The headstock slides along the beam and is locked in place by various means.
4. Saw: A saw is an important tool of woodworking that uses a hard blade or wire with either an abrasive edge or serrated blade to cut through softer materials. This saw may be either hand or power operated.
5. Wood Chisels: These are available in a wide variety from wooden to plastic handles and range in size from ¼’’ to 2’’. For making heavier cuts using chisels, they are tapped on the end with a wooden mallet.
6. Vices: These are mechanical screw apparatus used for holding or clamping a work piece to allow work to be performed efficiently. Vices usually have a fixed jaw and a parallel jaw to move away or towards the fixed jaw using the screw.
7. Hand Drills: These are especially useful in the absence of machine drills and can be put to use to drill holes of different sizes. The hand drill generally holds drill sizes from 1mm to 9mm.
8. Leather tool pouch and Apron: These enable one to carry the smallest of screwdrivers to the largest of tools without any hassles.
