Indoor Crafts during Winter Season

If you are tired of being stuck inside your homes during those long winter days, with layers of snow piled up against your home, then here is the perfect way to relieve you of your boredom. Try out some new, interesting crafts that you can do with your kids so that they don’t become victims of the boredom blues.

1. Winter scenes: A great way to use up all those winter greeting cards is to make out winter scenes. Cut out the pieces of the winter cards that you want to present in your scene. Then glue the pictures to your construction paper to create a new scene. Add snow to your scene by opening a cotton ball and gluing strips to the ground. Embellish your scene with craft supplies. If you wish you can even fame your scene by adding a white or black construction paper border.

2. Rainsticks from recyclables: All you need to do is to cut a piece of carpet tube and have an adult drill tiny hole around the entire area of the carpet tube. Next, using a hammer put flat headed spiral nails into the holes. Then plug one end of your tube by placing it on a piece of cardboard, tracing around the tube and cutting out the circle. Repeat the process so you have circles at both the ends and attach the circles using glue or tape. Seal one end and put a few cups of sunflower seeds, rice, corn kernels into the tube to create the desired volume of sound. Once you are satisfied with it, seal the other end of the tube with the other circle.

3. Peace Doves: This is an extremely useful craft when you wish to teach your kids about difficult facts like death and illness. To make them understand these things positively, beautiful peace doves can be created by attaching the colored ribbons that are meaningful to the family.

4. Snow puppets: This is an exciting winter craft project for children in the age of six and above. Things you need to have for preparing these puppets include, white knit gloves, 4 tiny orange poms, glue, scrap material, plastic wrap, paint brush, white felt and black acrylic paint. The white gloves act as the body of the puppet while the 4 poms can be used to represent the hands and feet. Using the black paint you can create the eyes and hair and you can make use of other scrap materials to decorate your puppet.

5. Snow Girls: This is one of the most interesting winter crafts. The snow girls are basically made by decorating Styrofoam balls. Things you need to make these snow girls are, Styrofoam balls, toothpicks, white glue, dangling earrings, colored ball straight pins, shank buttons, craft feather bow and hair bow, two-inch flat lid, scissors, kid’s sock and ribbons. It is interesting to know that you may even use these snow girls for decorating in Christmas.
