Indoor Kids Teepee Crafts

The Teepee, also known as ‘tepee’ or ‘tipi’, is basically a sort of conical tent, originally made of animal skins or birch bark. However, most of the modern tipi covers are usually made of canvas.

There are a couple of interesting ways through which you can make beautiful indoor teepees like by using food or paper, etc. Here is a look into some of these ways:

Making Edible Teepees with Food Craft:

Using an electric beater, mix 2 cups of sifted confectioner’s sugar, ¼ cup of softened, unsalted butter and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Beat until smooth and spreadable. Stir in some milk if needed. Use icing to frost ice cream sugar cones and place in the freezer until the ice hardens. Then use tubes of cake decorating icing to draw patterns and images and glue on the candies. For making the lodge poles, just insert toothpicks into the tip of each cone.

Making Teepees with Paper Craft:

Bind twigs together towards the top using yarn, string or rubber band, taking care that you don’t bind them too tightly. Then gently adjust the twigs to form a teepee shape. Hold the teepee above a piece of scrap paper and trace the outline of one side of the teepee to make a template for making the teepee. Open up a large bag along its seams and lay your triangle template on the opened bag tracing the outline. Trace the triangle three more times with the long edges touching. Cut out the polygon snipping out a door on one edge. Fold the paper along the long ends, forming it into a teepee shape and tape the edges together. Snip off the top of the teepee letting the twigs into the teepee. Finally tape the twigs into place and decorate the teepee using crayons and markers.
